I’m Stella Marr. I was a prostitute and call girl for ten years. This is my voice, my truth, my story. Never again will I be silenced. They tore out my tongue but I learned to regrow it. Now I will always speak. Thank you so much for visiting this blog.
I escaped prostitution when one of my Johns gave me a condominium across from Lincoln Center and kept me for two years. I sold the condo to fund my education at Barnard College, Columbia University where I graduated with distinction with a major in English Literature and Creative Writing. I’m a published author and a recent contributor to the Breadloaf Writers’ Conference.
I’m a proud founding member of Survivors Connect, an international online leaderless network of trafficking and prostitution survivors. We are sisters and survivors. Nothing will break the bonds between us.

Fantastic “About” page. I will have to read your blog.
Stella – good work you’re doing here. If I’m honest, I’ll say I blog to entertain myself . You blog to make a difference. Keep it up. You are brave and building a worthy life.
And thanks for coming by. Hope you come back. Most of my commenters are men – we can always use another woman’s voice
I am so proud of you.

Awww, thank you
How did you find me, I just started today!
I searched for the key words trauma and prostitution. So glad we’re connected. Love love love xoxo
A group of us survivors have gotten together to form a leaderless international online network, for friendship, support and activism:

Stella, so proud of you. I’d love to tell you and your sisters about Intensive Trauma Therapy (traumatherapy.us), and phenomenal cutting-edge trauma therapy program in West Virginia that helps trauma survivors transform their lives in a matter of days. If you call, tell them Shelly and Wanda referred you. We are currently working on research for books and media production on trauma. A privilege to meet you. My friend Wanda and I are speaking at an organization next week that is starting an initiative that helps children who have been trafficked.
this is amazing. I am so proud of you for using your voice, beautiful!!!
your liberation will surely lead others to be liberated!! keep on writing, your words are so powerful!
Kristin thank you so much for your empathetic and joyful support. It means the world to me. All my love, Stella

Hi Stella ,
You are a brave woman. You are an inspiration!
Keep going. All the very Best!
Thank you so much Sapna. You are such a beautiful, fiery and inspiring force in the world.
What a powerful blog! Makes me feel self-conscious about my inconsequential ramblings, lol, but thanks so much for stopping by.
Thanks so much Stephi — I LOVE your blog — xoxo
Looking forward to reading more of your story and your work. Thanks for following my blog. (One of my dreams has been to attend or participate in a Breadloaf Conference. How exciting for you!)
Breadloaf was an extraordinary experience. You should apply — it’s amazing. Thank you so much for your kind words. XOXO
Thank you so very much for your deep courage and beauty, and the the strength in your voice. This is a remarkable blog. Best Always.
Have you heard of a non-profit organization called Truckers Against Trafficking? I heard the CEO speak at a luncheon and their work is compelling.
Thanks so much for mentioning them. I have heard of them, from sister survivors, who have great things to say about them. xoxo
The work you are doing is wonderful! It is deplorable that any of us should ever feel so sad, scared or alone when there are so many of us walking around on this planet every day.
Thank you for the work you are doing to change the world
Stella, thank you for sharing your story and for standing up for justice, healing, and hope. Sex trafficking is the “elephant in the room” all too often. It needs to stop so that all may be free. Peace and blessing. Keep writing!
PS: Thanks for visiting my blog, adventuresinthanksliving.com!
I was delighted to find you’d subscribed to my humble blog, Stella and even more touched by what I found here in your story and beautiful courage. I look forward to witnessing this powerful work of healing that you’ve undoubtedly been at for a while now. Peace to you…
I am awed by your story and bravery. I’ll be back to read everything.
Stella, I am taken aback with the stark frankness of your writing. I do not mean that in the negative as I am not sure there is any other way to break through the apathetic fog people have regarding prostitution and the abuse that it stems from.
I am very interested in knowing your views on several things but mostly I wonder if you would read a poem of mine, regarding abuse, and tell me your thoughts. http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/mhb/293107/ I realize it falls well short in depth compared with your work. I’ve just never confronted it at you have.
I look forward to going back through your blog and reading more.
MH Benton
Stella,
I honor you. I have past life memories of being very abused and tortured. And you have lived a life of trauma this time around. My heart goes out to you. But you are clearly a warrior. Thank you for your voice. Thank you for your courage.
deep blessings to you.
mare
You are an amazing young woman—so brave—so candid! I look forward to reading more of your work in the days to come.
Stella ~
I can only say that you’re an amazing woman who’s overcome so much already, and yet you continue to help those still in need of that helping hand, or encouragement – bravo & thank you for the work you do, and the dedication you so passionately express.
~ Megs
Sadly a flaw of humanity is the abuse of others.
The novel I hope to publish sometime this year faults the Roman Church for turning sex into something more evil than natural. The Roman Empire was there also. However, the Roman Empire was dying and morphed into the Roman Church.
The saddest thing in all the world is the loss of one’s voice. Yours comes through strong and will help others find theirs.
I believe it was Nicholas Kristof who suggested the First Lady take up the issue of sex trafficking as a special interest. It needs to be put before the public rather than hidden away as if it didn’t exist. It’s wonderful that you’re speaking out.
I look forward to reading more of your work.
Stella,
First let me say, I look forward to reading your blog. I am a big fan of what I call “Underground Stories,” the real stories of people in positions and jobs that are all too real but that general society sweeps under the rug. Stories that the common everyday human doesn’t want to hear because by listening to the stories they must also acknowledge that their fragile and superficial view of the world has much darker places.
Be proud. Tell your story. I want to hear it. All the gritty details. The terrible times and the wonderful times. You have lived a life that most people never realize even exists. And there are so many other women out there who are living the same life you are who feel like they can’t speak, as though their tongue has been cut out. I hope that all of those people who feel they do not have a voice find you and your words and stories.
Sincerely,
-M.
Hi Stella,
You are helping so many people with writing about your experiences. Congratulations on Breadloaf.
Nancy
Thanks for speaking up and out!! Best wishes to you always!!
P4W
You’re amazing and so inspiring! Thank you for sharing your experience and for visiting my blog. Keep making your voice heard. All the best!
Dear Stella,
Your blog is amazing. You are a very brave woman and definitely a writer. Keep the good work.
I know, I can feel it, it’s good to finally be able to speak your mind and speak your soul. But every time you do, you relive those experiences as though they happened yesterday. Every word, every line, you pour your soul out, on the street, for people to walk on. Every time you empty yourself, somebody feels for you and another somebody tries to clear his/her shoes from having contact with your former reality as though they stepped on an old chewing gum.
What you do matters. Even if you can’t please everyone, at least you bring all these experiences and emotions out for others to see, touch, and feel, perhaps for the first time in life.
Stay strong and stubborn
your friend, Alexander Nestoiter
What a journey you have had…and what wonderful service you are putting it to.
Hi Stella,
Please keep up your work. You are so needed.
God’s blessing to you and those for whom you speak for.
Be encouraged.
Your stories are horrifying and even more profound because you’ve escaped from this cage where so many others have not. Thank you for making us more aware.
Regards.
You are a very brave woman and have come incredibly so far. I have never had anything happen so traumatic in my life, but though different life circumstances there is something I can relate too. You made a powerful statement, “Never again will I be silenced.” I have been for far too long, but am learning to speak up.
Your courage will benefit so many, Ms. Stella! There is a lot of work to be done to promote the well-being of women — which in turn will promote the well-being of everyone. Every step matters. So pleased to meet you.
Stella, your courage and raw honesty, and the beauty of your prose, is breathtaking. I want to applaud you for being a shining light for those still in darkness. And I’ll certainly be referring people to your online survivors group. You’re doing amazing work in this world, sister Lightworker.
Blessings and much love to you,
Nicole

Such a powerful and real ‘about’ page. Best, Lorelei
I’m a survivor too, but of a different background. Writing is a very cathartic activity, and I’m glad I found this avenue to travel down. By doing so, I have met some incredible people, like you, who have powerful stories to tell.
I’ll try and not be a stranger.
You have a fascinating page!
I am floored by discovering your story. Your truths are so valuable and necessary. Thank-you for making yourself known to me.
I came across your blog after you liked my post “Killer Queen”.
Thank you. It’s women like you that somewhat restore my faith in our race.
Your letter to yourself was amazing, and though I belong to the opposite end of the world, I related to each and every word, if that’s possible, and the post formed haunting images in my mind, even though I’ve never experienced, or even know someone who remotely experienced trauma of the sort. Thank you again. I’m grateful I came across your blog.
wow, you are a survivor. great read.
Thanks for the follow, Stella. Just read your ‘About’ page – brave words! Lots of inner strength – well done!
Stella I shall enjoy reading you
Purpose driven.
Thank you for subscribing to my blog, and “liking” my latest post. I really like your story, your message. Powerful words, and good for you for standing up for who you are and where you’ve been.
Incredible. It is always such a blessing to meet fellow survivors [whatever poison], simply possessing the will to live, despite circumstances and happenstances. Your passion to give hope and bring change is inspiring and detrimental for those unable to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you. AI look forward to reading more. Take Care, jess
What you have here is quite moving. You are a true survivor in every sense of the word and your words will certainly be an inspiration to those who read them. Thank you for sharing your story and making a difference. I wish you continued success.
I find this incredible. I’m glad you were able to make a change in your life and that you’re brave enough to share your stories with us.
I’m so pleased you managed to escape. I feel so dreadfully for the poor women trapped in this business. I hope they all find a way out like you did.
Hi Stella,
Your story is so inspiring and I’m so glad you are helping other young women. Looking forward to reading more of your posts.
Best wishes.
Am blown away by what you’ve achieved. Well done for having the strength and tenacity to study. You obviously have inner strength. I would love to hear more about the English and Creative Writing. I will read more of your blog, as I am interested to read some of your writing. You might like a few of my poems. Vicky x
just dropped by to say hello. you’re a brave girl. don’t lose your sense of humor. its a tough world out there.
I’m so glad that I found your blog. You have so much strength, you are an inspiration. Thank you for making a difference.
Hi Stella! I’ve just nominated you for the Versatile Blog Award because I’ve enjoyed your blog so much. I wrote about your blog: With obvious strength she talks about her experiences and tries to help others by showing the truth behind prostitution and celebrating her fellow survivors.
I hope you have a great weekend!
http://vanessagrassi.com/2012/03/16/versatile-blogger-award/
Your courage is inspirational, not just because you survived, but also because you have overcome the fear and continue on, with your heart open, to help others.

Wow, you’ve got a fascinating, blog, Stella! Well done!
I’m intrigued to see more..
Have a lovely day, my new friend!
Subhan Zein
I wish I could say I enjoyed reading your blog too, but that is so inadequate. I was overwhelmed, angered and heartbroken all at the same time. You have a powerful gift and I’m glad you found it.
How impressed I am with how courageous and determined you are which have led to your accomplishments against such odds. And many more to come, I’m sure. I will be visiting here again soon. Thank you!
I’m speechless your writing is powerful
The ‘stella’ article was in so much detail, I felt her pain, actually got goosebumps reading it
I was amazed as on how well you painted the picture, then I saw this ‘about’ page wow.
‘People’ are inspirational stories waiting to be read.
You have talent and i’ll keep reading.
It is wonderful to get to know you and your writing!
I hope you can become a member of ESAC too: http://esacnyc.wordpress.com … it’s an organization that has been established recently to raise awareness about the inhuman abuse of foreign domestic workers in the middle east, especially in places such as Lebanon and Kuwait, where many foreign women who work as maids are often beaten, raped, and as a result they commit suicide. We are a few concerned individuals and we need more volunteers who can work with us to let the victims know that they are not all alone and their suffering is not in vain! It will great to have you join us!
Amazing story! Thank you do much for having the courage to share your story.
Wanted to point this article out to you, http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/18/opinion/sunday/kristof-where-pimps-peddle-their-goods.html?_r=1&ref=opinion. It is pretty much on topic.
I admire you.
I must say–you are strong and brave! I’ve had to overcome nothing like this in my life–I’m a grandma on a cake walk. I’m impressed with your tenacity and for putting yourself ‘out there’ to help others–to make a difference. It’s nice to meet you!!
You are a strong, beautiful woman, Stella! I already feel like I know you … your writing is incredible.
Stella, what a remarkable woman you are. I know what it is like to remain silent…I know what it is like to finally find your voice! I must tell you I just finished watching My Week With Marilyn. If you haven’t seen it yet I think it is a must see…the next thing I did was turn on my computer and then there was you. I’m proud we found each other. Best, Steph
I just wanted to say you are an amazing woman and a true inspiration to fight against odds. Keep going.
As I was reading your posts, I have to say that you are indeed a strong woman. I admire your courage and using words/writing as a form of expressing yourself. Best of wishes to you and keep your passion and dreams alive. Never give up!
Your strength and perseverance inspires me…wow!
Your courage is admirable. So glad you found a way to use your past for good.
Bravo….
SueAnn
Kudos to you for speaking out on a topic so important to you. Best of luck.
They say the body is just a shell. That it’s the spark of life within our physical existence—locked inside the heart, or maybe the mind—that remains untouched, free of the pain and judgments of others, including ourselves. That voice inside that tells the truth. Life is a journey of experiences and opportunities that each of us must take alone. Evil does exist. What finally frees us is learning that while the body may be broke or abused, the real person, that spark inside, will always be free and loving and beautiful.
I believe it. In your own way, I think you’ve come to believe it too. All the best.
I believe it — you are correct. Thanks for your empathetic support. Much love, xo
I do wish you the best fortunes in making the lives of every woman safer and perseverance will get you to any place you want to be.
Wow that was a crazy life!!!
Congrats to you for stepping away from it!!
Have you checked out saksaum.org?
They rescue traffickees and disciple them in the Bible and they earn a living by making beautiful things which are sold on that site!!!
Hi Stella, thanks for following my blog.
I admire your courage and tenacity. It was ingenious of you to sell that condo and use it to fund your education – and what a fine education you got! I’m sure, based on the posts I’ve read thusfar, you’ll be successful in your writing career. Your fearlessness will help you tremendously as you pursue your new path.
Best of luck.
All the best,
Carol
Reading your stories and those of others has been amazing. Thank you so much for speaking out about what you’ve been through!
Truly amazing and inspirational… keep that voice of yours strong and focused, for always.
Stella, you are a woman of remarkable proportions. I cannot imagine what you’ve been through. Everyone’s hoping for your recovery. As a teenage guy, I laud your courage. More power!
Your blog is an amazing site, reflecting your passionate work. While in many areas of society, women’s rights have come a long way, there is still so much to be done to help every mistreated, abused and silenced woman. The ability in so many humans to hurt their fellows still stuns me, even though I suppose by now it shouldn’t. Thank you for sharing your story.
You’ve got some amazing and powerful content here. I look forward to reading and learning more.
Cheers,
Simon
This is an amazing “About Page” you have here and can’t wait to see what else you have going on
.
Dear Stella…people such as yourself inspire me to be better than i am.
What soul you’ve laid bare here. Thank you for sharing your life, and I think you are making a difference by doing it.
We’re obviously from different experiences, different parts of the country, and totally different worlds, but somehow there’s a powerful connection you’ve made through your writing – no mean feat! Obviously your finest talent is not in your body but in your brain, and lucky for the rest of us, you eventually discovered that. Keep up the good work my friend, we are all better for it – I’ll be checking in regularly – really find your work compelling.
Your story is very inspirational. You are a LIVING testimony to everyone who feels like they may never make it out of whatever situation they are in. I cannot wait to begin following you in your journey of life. You are beautiful and deserve a wonderful life. Thank you for your courage.
God bless you and my prayers are with you. You are a survivor and a warrior. You are so beautiful to God and I’m so sorry you were used. I’m thankful you escaped that life of abuse. ((hugs))
You have my attention, Stella! I’ll be back and while I’m gone, you will be in my thoughts. Keep up the great work!
i look forward to reading your blog, and listening to your story. thank you for your voice.
I use writing to make the smallest of small changes, you used it to make the biggest of the big. Congratulations and best of luck to you!
You’re the perfect example of how someone can change their life, their destiny, their stars if only they have the guts and fortitude. You’re an inspiration. Thank you for the follow, and for sharing.
Robbie
I think you’re a brave woman. You just gave everyone who’ve been in the same position you were, a voice . Congrats on your leap into the lives of others!
http://wifewithoutalife.wordpress.com
You have a great voice and you are using it to help change the world. I read just one post and loved what you said. I will be back.
Stella, your story is INCREDIBLE, and you’re fighting for something that weighs on my heart so often. Thanks for your beautiful honesty.
I’m now subscribed via Google Reader. Cannot wait to hear more.
Stella,
Thanks for sharing this story. It sounds so familiar to a couple of stories of people about whom I care and who are making a different way–and I wonder how someone manages to love, care and be powerful on the other side of this. It’s all so complicated and so simple, but I like your power and wonder how you can pass it along to your sisters better than I or anyone else could.
I want to send you my warmest wishes for using your story in the hopes of saving other girls. I hope one day, I am able to help in this cause, financially, for now let me know if there is anything I can do.
God bless
Im looking forward to reading your blog. Your about page is extremely powerful.
A stunning blog, beautiful words. It’s strange really how you find (one finds) similarity between vastly different stories.
Thanks for looking at my blog which enabled me to find yours
Juno
Hi Stella. What a powerful bio.
Wow – you are really a strong person to find a way to escape and create your own path. Amazing blog.
It’s always great to share your passions with other like minded people and one of the best things I have found about this online universe is that it makes it very easy – much easier than in real life for sure.
I am actually more glad that I get to read your work now because your life and your story form one of those things that never fails to put everything into perspective – whatever problems I may have seem to float out of the window. I am proud that the internet has given you a voice, and I think right here is the internet’s purest, most distilled noble purpose (as witnessed in the Arab Spring too) – to give the normally unheard people a voice.
I have nominated you for the hug award, and you will find that here: http://olivetwist.wordpress.com/. The guidelines for the award are also on the site. Keep up the good work!
Peace be with you, Olive Twist
Hey Stella! congrats on your determination to move forward into a world of your own choosing!

Susie
@stellamarr-you are an insoiration
You are one brave woman. I pray God’s blessings over you…
You are one of God’s angels. I am praying peace and incredible blessings come your way!
Hi Stella, It truly is a marvel of the modern world and the internet that two people with life experiences as different as you and I should come to cross paths.
I have been exploring a bit and am astounded by the courage and strength you possess in overcoming such a tumultous past. The interview you did had me riveted. I am glad you are using your experiences and inside knowledge to fight against the myth of female empowerment through the sex-trade that has become popularized in media. Blessings and best wishes to you as you continue both your inner and outer journey.
Amazing you Warrior Goddess.
You speak Truth to Power; your Strong Woman’s voice telling what Must be Told!
I am proud to be a woman on this planet with you.
You Go Girl!
Peace, Jen
Hey! i find it great you started this blog to spread your voice and truth, see you around!
Thank you for your uplifting response to my poems. I stopped by out of curiosity and my mind was blown. Your blog details real life things that society tries to push under the rug. If you would be willing I would really like to get it touch with you and hear your story so that I can share it and try to help advance bringing these issues to the light.
Stella,
You and all these other ladies you have linked to are amazing. It’s easy to get lost in your own anger at your own things. It is wonderful that you are bringing attention to this, and helping a lot of people see what is going on.
You have an incredible story, and are an incredible person to gather your sisters in support. May you continue to have strength and courage going forward.
Keep on percolating. You’re doing important work : )
per·co·late /ˈpərkəˌlāt/ -(of information or an idea or feeling) Spread gradually through an area or group of people.
You are a beautiful and inspiring person and have opened our eyes up to so much that is going on. Please keep giving a voice to all these like-lived people out there and show them how much hope there can be on the horizon. x
I admire your strength and your voice. Keep writing!
All best wishes,
Marci
Wow, my heart goes put to you and at the same time….bravo!!!! For turning your life around and gaining your voice! Grace to you and I hope your life is just exactly what you want and deserve. You are very smart obviously and work hard helping others! Way to go!!!!!

The world needs more courageous people like you. Your story is powerful, thanks for sharing. Look forward to reading more posts from you. Sending you lots of love and light!
Glad to have found your blog.
Keep at it!
Dear Stella,
thanks for stopping by West Papua Media. I am moved by what you write of, and your deep experiences at the hard edge of a industry that has exploited humans for far too long. I am sure you would be aware, Human and sexual trafficking by the Indonesian military is a massive issue in Papua, as is forced servitude, especially in places where then men from outside rape the land as much as they do to the locals.
As a former human rights worker and refugee protections worker, before I went back to journalism, I “unfortunately” have many years of experience with survivors of forced prostitution and their stories of survival across West Papua and PNG. And learning the sensitivity to allow them to speak their stories and become empowered to stand together with other survivors (or victims-no-more). And learning of their unbelievable courage and tenacity for simply coming through the other side, which has been totally inspiring. As a man, also coming to terms with the behaviour of other men who think it is acceptable to exploit, and to stand apart from that by example (I hope).
Please stay in contact,as we are trying to grow our capacity to effectively cover the ongoing issues of sexual violence and trafficking in Papua, and by giving folks the skills with which to tell their own stories safely. We would love to open some communication between you and folks in Papua – perhaps there are experiences that could be shared.
with deep respect,
Nick Chesterfield

Wow. In the space of twenty minutes you’ve inspired me and left quite the impression. Thank you so so much for sharing your story!

Your writing has already helped me feel more connected… “You have to work up the nerve to pay a cashier for a soda. You’re too scared to ask that guy behind the deli counter to make you a sandwich. This isn’t weakness, it’s biology. Trauma changes your brain…” I still have to help myself walk up to the deli counter but now I smile and open myself to that person and my reality changes every time, for the beautiful.
I am in awe of how brave you must be to write about this. It’s fantastic you are getting your voice out there. Keep up the good work.
kassia
When I saw what your blog was about I had to do a double-take. Amazing story. It’s great to see this kind of stuff being blogged about; gives people a real insight and makes for fascinating reading. I’m also following you now.
x
Stella, you are a positive role-model for all women, regardless of race, religion, education, age or profession. I am so enthralled with your style .. and grace. You are a strong woman, and I applaud you for putting your talents toward the better good of society. I look forward to reading more, much more of your writing. You have a special talent, and are a special woman and humanist.
Cheers,
Amma
After reading your blog and viewing your website I was left speechless so I give you this link along with my great admiration of you:
http://www.panhala.net/Archive/I_live_my_life.html
Please don’t stop doing what you’re doing.
Hi Stella,
I’m popping on here for a couple of reasons –how ironic it is that you are who you are, doing what you’re doing, and I have become friends with Dottie Laster, from the TRAFFICKED radio show on http://www.herewomentalksocial.com and Chris Baughman, who is a detective in Las Vegas, whose sole responsibility is fighting the war against sex trafficking. God bless ya for getting out and now helping others! If there’s anything I can do to help you, let me know. I have a blog that I can promote the cause, and have done so on numerous occasions. Just let me know.
Hugs,

You are loved. XO XO XO
I had a chance to look at yours and read some of your very beautiful writing. You’ve been through quite a journey. I hope you continue to heal. Best regards.
So encouraged to hear your story of escape, and to hear you testify to the fact that we simply cannot go this road alone. We need each other desperately. We were not meant to live in isolation.
Wow. Just by reading your “About” page I’m very stunned and interested in your blog
I have a lump in my throat, but I hit the “follow” button. Your writing is beautiful; your story is painful. Keep on.
love.

Your blog is very brave and I’m sure is helping out so many people in similar situations.
Dear Stella,
I need to thank you.
I am sitting here with tears streaming down my face and gulping down sobs. I can’t even imagine… To have gone through what you have and refusing to be broken and to be standing up and shining the beautiful light of your soul into all the dark corners and lighting the way for others to GET OUT…I am humbled and awed.
Thank you for your honesty. Thank you for the raw power of your words. Thank you for your pure, giving soul. Thank you for sharing your story.
You have been awarded the Angelika Award.

Wonderful and inspiring work. As someone who used to work in a domestic violence shelter and with survivors of sexual assault, I am always happy to see the sharing of information, education, and awareness with these issues. Peace and happiness to you!
I love you Stella and I am rooting for you…..praying for you…..and supporting you…..
Thank you so much for not being silent anymore!

This is the most incredible blog I’ve seen in a long time. It’s also heartening to see how much support you continue to receive in the online community – a true testament to the potential of networking, as well as to the power of the written word. You wield them mightily!
Quite an astonishing blog; I admire your strength and courage.
Wow!…very courageous…I want to read more of your story…
I am inspired already. Awesome blog:)
Hi Stella,
Before reading your blog this morning, I had not really thought about all of the issues you discuss here on your posts. I believe that understanding (and loving) others is what gives us our humanity. I’m glad that by reading your blog, I am getting that bit of understanding.
I admire your efforts to not only break free from a difficult past, but to overcome it by thriving. And by helping others while you’re at it (!). It gives me hope that there are people like you around
- Carla

It takes courage to put a voice to the life you’ve lived and continue to live.
I’m glad that I have found YOUR story. You should be proud of what you have achieved, and where you are. I’m sorry you had any of the pain you’ve written about, but to come out of it alive, sane AND be an advocate for others….just amazing.
What a brave, sad, triumphant story. May you continue to find healing.

Thank you for all that you are doing and the lives you are touching with this blog and Survivors Connect.
TJ
Your blog, and the work you are doing, writing about surviving is an empowering tool to share. Keep on, keepin on. SM
This is tough stuff. You are a strong woman.
Great inspiration! Best of luck with your writing.
Thank you for writing this blog. Though I don’t know much about the human trafficking industry, I do know about sexual assault by people you once trusted…it took me seven years to truly begin the process of one act committed against me. I am disgusted and saddened by the continuing degradation and manipulation of women, and the silence that it is met with. You are doing great things with this blog, and your voice is filled with strength and beauty. Thank you again. I’ll keep reading.
Your blog speaks about the most important things in life: freedom and dignity. I’m glad that on this planet there are women with your strenght.
WOW, is all I can say. You are doing truly valuable work. It is an honor to know you.
I hope your voice and the voices of all survivors get louder and louder. Your words are powerful. I feel thankful that there are strong people like you in the world.
Very impressive thing you’re doing, getting your voice out there. Never let anyone degrade who you are.
Your work here is both impressive and inspirational. I love seeing people find their voice, allowing them to help others while creating integrity.
Hi Stella,
I was amazed by your openness and your strength – it is so important that this topic is talked about. Thank you. Looking forward to more of your posts.
You must be a very strong and powerful woman to have been able to do what you do now after all those years.
I’ve been reading yours post by post, and I cannot help but get lost in the subject matter. Although I cannot relate directly, I try to process the words in to feelings; some of hatred and sadness, others of strength and survival. Thank you for all that you do, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to read your words.
Your blog is some powerful stuff – wow. You seem like an incredible person – I’m humbled. Truly.
Your writing is very powerful, it’s amazing what you are doing. I wish you all the luck in continuing doing this!
Hi Stella. I’m so moved by your story I don’t even know what to say. I’m happy for you that you were able to escape that life, and I applaud the work you’re doing to help other women. I wish you all the best.
Very brave speaking up the way you do, I truly hope you draw more strength from what you’re doing to encourage you to do it all the more. I was very moved by your article about the letter to you younger self – we all have much to learn.
Best wishes
Martyn

I admire your courage Stella. You are an inspiration for others to fight their way out of problems.
My best wishes are with you forever…
Stella — your blog is… amazing. Stunning. Horrifying. Inspiring. And so beautifully written.
You’re blog is very powerful work x
Wow, your “About” is one of the most captivating I’ve read. Thank you for sharing your story.
wow….You are impressive! Thanks for stopping by and I will be checking on on this blog for sure!
There’s an area in Glasgow known as Anderston. It’s a sort of financial district, if you believe the hype, but essentially it’s where a lot of call centres are located. Some years ago it’s where you’d find a lot of massage parlours, if that’s what you were looking for and there was also a bus station.
It’s an area that I used to go to when I was looking for a bus. In more recent years I’ve worked there and every now and then if I’m going hom,e from a late shift, someone asks me if I’m ‘looking for business’.
The first time I was asked that question I wasn’t quite sure what was on offer, so I declined (politely) mostly out of caution.
Since then I’ve learned what’s on offer and I’ve continued to decline (politely). I never really thought much about why I always declined. I suppose it’s just because I can’t see myself as someone who would pay for sex.
I’ve never felt inclined to judge the women who’ve approached me, I didn’t feel qualified because I had no idea what had brought them to that situation. (These women were working the streets, not in a brothel and I don’t think any of them were under aged or trafficked. Anyway, Glasgow is not New York. Things are different here, so their stories may have been very different from yours. Or then again, maybe not. I really don’t know).
Having said that, I suppose I now have a clearer idea of why I was right to decline their offers and why I was right to be polite.
I’m not sure what to do about your blog. Except just to drop by every now and then and read for a while.
Truth hurts, so they say. They also say truth sets you free. All I know is that telling the truth is the best antidote there is to B/S and that stuff will drown you if you let it.
I don’t think I need to tell you to keep writing. I thinkyou’ll do that anyway. And I’ll keep on reading what you write.
Take care.
I find your story inspiring, fascinating and awesome. Thanks for sharing! Henry
I admire the way you have been able to keep your creative spirit alive; it seems like that will to create, tell your story, express yourself helped give you the strength?? Thinking of this as PTSD makes sense and for me is a new way of thinking about these life issues. I have always thought in terms of depression and emotional colors such as dark colors (like dementors if you are into Harry Potter). The intensity of specific events is so hard to imagine. I like the poetry and all of the music references and look forward to seeing how music fit in with all of this. Thanks – Mike.
I know I blog about fictional stories, but yours is a story that is powerful because it is real and immediate, and concerning a vitally important issue that cannot be ignored. Thank you for following my blog, and granting me the privilege to learn of your story. It is both an honor and a pleasure.
It’s especially moving to read this in the Spring, the time of rebirth and renewal. Your mercy-mission and the grace that leads you and your sisters and supporters to seek *others* safety and well-being in response to your own trials and suffering is to me the very definition of being an angel. May you find great joy in the life you are building, always.
Kathryn
You have a powerful and important voice. You share a perspective that most people – at least all the people I know – are not aware of. Keep fighting the good fight, Keep reaching out and helping to empower other sisters to find a new life of freedom. I’m so sorry you had to go through so much pain and horrifying things. I’m so proud of you for rising above the darkness, and now using your experience to help others. You are a very special woman. God Bless your journey – MoSop
You are such an inspirational woman, and I wish you the best in the future
Hi Stella,
It’s been a gift to read your words. I am amazed by your resilience and courage. You truly are an inspiration, and I wish you the best.
-Sarah
I’m so glad you found my blog. Your work here addresses really important truths and it’s difficult to read (which means it’s working). Keep pressing forward, I’m positive you are making a difference. Women need an advocate like you!
I’ve just checked out your blog and the about page. Your story is so moving and so eloquently written! Best of luck with everything! Especially your healing plus spreading your message!
You’re an inspiration Stella. I hope you can give courage to many people so that they may see light despite of hiding in the shadows.
Your story is impressive. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to reading more.
Best,
LL
Stella,
You are great. Thanks for your bravery. Keep up your great work.
Mega-wow. Thank YOU for being such a strong, awesome person to post your stories and share your experiences; I’m really looking forward to reading through your blog!
I just read your Letter to My Younger Self (which made me cry) and the great responses that you and Dublin Call Girl to the idiot victim blamer who wrote in (are there really many more out there like him?)
A few years ago there was a conference of people who were pro-sex work and I recorded it and ran some of it on the show. I also got Dorchen Leidholdt to be a live guest and refute some of what was said. It just didn’t seem right to me from everyything I knew about sexism and misogyny. Denial of women’s reality is the name of the game to many and victim-blaming abounds. I thank you for your honest voice. I hope you will be in touch with our show and maybe we can do something together on the radio sometime.
Love and solidarity,
Fran Luck, Exwcutive Producer, Joy of Resistance
I definitely plan to make myself a regular on your page: thanks for sharing your life, I can only imagine what courage it’s taken
Dear Stella
Just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the Sunshine award.
Thank you for sharing – you are truely an inspiration.
http://realityinprogress.wordpress.com/2012/04/12/let-the-sunshine-in/
Thank you for your courage, and your never-ending desire to live and be you, as you have been so very wonderfully made. Your voice has great power, and your story great love…Thank you for your love and care for other women, who need your voice to be theirs right now, and for the voice you inspire in other women who need to share their story too. Blessings to you always, Erin, Bella Bleue
Stella, I’ve been looking around your site, and what you are doing here is important and amazing. You and these other women have been so wronged, but are so strong and brave and beautiful. Thanks for following me–I am most definitely going to follow you. Also, I’m so jealous about Bread Loaf. Keep writing!
Wow, truly heroic, Stella. I’ll check out your site more.
Wow, Stella! I just read your letter to your younger self. I was amazed, saddened and impressed all at the same time. You are a beautiful writer, a strong and intelligent woman. After reading a couple of posts, because you are so open and honest, I feel as though I know you…and I’m proud to. I’m happy you had the opportunity to get out of that life, took it and created a life of vibrancy and one of active support for those still experiencing the pain.
Stella,
I am grateful for your visit because without it I would not have arrived here, I would not have read your story and your beautiful posts and consequently, I would have been poorer. I admire you, your strength and your courage very much. Being able to turn a painful past into something this beautiful and positive is extraordinary. You have my full respect and admiration.
XX
Your message and mission are very powerful. I am so happy that you found your voice…don’t ever shut up! You are a light that shines through the darkness.
Hi, y i think you’re brave and inspirational.

Blue Skies,
CricketMuse
Stella, have you written a book about your experiences yet? You should.
Hi Stella,
I am awed and humbled by your story. And inspired to make a difference.
God’s blessings to you -
Wow. You have a powerful voice and an important story to tell. I hope that by standing together, you and other survivors can create your own platform to make yourselves heard. No person should ever experience the violence and degradation you describe. Keep speaking out and writing. I remember when those infected and at risk for HIV could not get a seat at research conferences, but they pushed and pushed until they gained entrance. You will, too.
Congratulations on coming through your journey with such a spirit and for founding what I can only imagine to be a very integral and important organisation. Be proud and keep sharing x
Wow, you’re amazing! Thanks for sharing your story.
Hi Stella,
Your blog is truly amazing and inspiring. You have such courage and strength….
Stella… The most wonderful aspect of this blogging medium is the surprises.
Never in my wildest dreams was I expecting the intensity nor subject matter
of your words when I came here to visit.
My sheltered life did not prepare me. But I love that we are members of this
human race in this time and place together. Your courage is phenomenal.
You are very brave.
Dear Stella,
Thank You.
For sharing, for reading, for being.
Warmest,
Alaya AD
I admire the honesty with which you deal with your life. A lesson for all of us.
Wow, what a well written and well researched blog. I think you’re doing a great thing here!
WOW! Amazing blog. Have you heard of or read anything on Shailey Tripp? I don’t want to use your blog to get others links, but you know where to find my page and her site is listed there under my Dirty Little Secrets sidebar. I’m actually going to go to her site now and post a link here. She is working hard at exposing some of the same things. Thanks for stopping by my place and you have an amazing blog.
The first thing to attain Godhood/Self Realization is the ability to look at on self with out prejudice.,with out passing judgements or justifying oneself.
Still the desire to guide/help others brings you closer to God.
The other day, I came across a slice of opinion.
Pain never ceases but if one were to transfer the affection to fellow human beings, then Life is worth Living.
May God Bless You.
Hi Stella. I look forward to keeping up with your blog. But in your case, I’ve got to say “look forward with trepidation.” Your subject matter is so intense and personal, I’m a bit taken aback. Kudos to you for responding so creatively to the tragedy of the world. Hopefully, we each in our own way can take back that which is beautiful – even if it’s only a tiny bit – and keep it from the darkness.
Thanks for following my blog.
Thank you for your voice, for bringing your story out into the light. Sometimes it doesn’t take much trauma to chase away our spirit for a long while, but the soul can never truly die.
I can imagine barely a fraction of what you must have gone through…but, I know childhood PTSD caused me to accept too much abuse in my adulthood and I see now the array of inappropriate behaviors/acting out I’ve done that has brought upon me some very serious mental and physical harm. I’m only now (at nearly 42), figuring out how to protect my boundaries. So many men, who aren’t even the prostitute-visiting sort, will look to vulnerable females to latch onto (and the men don’t care that I’m married!). It’s taken me years and many mistakes to realize how I was allowing myself to be treated…as if I didn’t deserve better.
Thank you so much for your honesty and your efforts to help others who are being abused in this way. I’ve not had the courage to be so open about that one area of my life. Maybe some day.
Casey
You are an amazing woman. You have been through more than I could ever imagine, and have become stronger because of it. The fact that you like what I do on my blog is a true honor and I wish you the best of luck in your life.
I hope to hear from you in the future.
Let me tell you how grateful I am that I started blogging because it has allowed me to get to know about a person like you. Your story is so inspiring, and your writing is so beautiful and honest and was vivid enough to bring tears to my eyes. I am so glad that you are telling your story. More of these stories need to be told.
Your story is impressive! Thanks for blogging.

Hi Stella,
Such honest and well written articles on such sensitive subjects are too few and far between. x
I’m very glad you have the courage to break free from something that seems entirely hopeless! Your determination is inspiring!
Thank you for sharing and for the wonderful work you do….
Addendum to my previous comment:
Are you familiar with Guy de Maupassant’s “Boule de Suif”? It is one of the most poignent portrayals of what I will call the “Scarlet Letter” syndrome, set in France during the conflict with Prussia. If you have not yet read it, may I recommend it?
Much Peace Stella, thank you for reaching out. I would never have known you and your fiercely beautiful work, life and words exist. May all the Great Goodness of this world and beyond bless & keep you loved = always =
ust read your most Recent Prose… yep I’m a baby …tears came to my eyes. (just a few mind you lets not get carried away) ..friggin tear ducts I hate them…they suck….:) …anyways I am also on Scribd – http://www.scribd.com/PhilipWardlow/info if you want to see any more of my work not yet on my new blog…fare thee well…
Your doing great stuff btw…always need more people like you in the world..
Stella,
You are proof that people can change and do something great!
It must have been very hard for you and your “about” page proves that.
Pat
I rarely comment but after reading some entries in your blog I felt I should leave some thoughts. I really think your “spoken” words are power, a light & a shadow, because you give your words life. A word without a shadow is a dead word. I admire your living words as I read & listen to your written voice.
Oh, lovely lady, another survivor…I’m so happy to have met you. It brings tears to my eyes. I’ve never met another…::Big hug::!!!!!!!! xo
I have explored your poetry and it is wonderful…exactly the kind of layered meaning, some both personal and some universal, that I prefer. I look forward to reading more in future. I wish you many blessings.
Would like to say, I admire your courage..
All the best, Jenny
I have read your story Stella you are a very courageous women. I admire your ambition and honesty.
786…your VOICE must be heard by the multitudes!!! Live in the Light of Love…sufi
I love your blog. A story that needs telling. Keep up the work, and thank you!
My moral support. Not much, i live too far away, and am not woman enough to actualy grow a pair. Strange, innit?
oghmaciously yours
Hey Stella
Though the multitude of comments above have already said what I wanted to say, I might as well, you are a very strong and wonderful woman. It was heartening to read some of your posts.
But again, keep up your good work, you are quite the inspiration.
Hello Stella,
Your blog however is so powerful! You are an inspiration to us all.
I have nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award!
Hi Stella: … Speak On, powerful warrior!
i can not wait to read more.
Thank you Stella You are a brave and creative person. I am honored. Michael Ryan
I am humbled by your strength and courage. Thank you for speaking out and being a willing voice in the effort to free women and children from the, generally, violent and damaging coercion of the sex trade.
I like everyting you wrote on your about page, and I will follow you to. go on…
Wow you have an incredible life story and all I can say is keep doing what your doing. Can’t wait to read more!
My heart is with you… All the best, you are a true incarnation of the Phoenix, you rose from your world… a true inspirational figure.
I wish one day your work of literature would find its way to my shelves…
Knowing where you’ve come from and where you been is extraordinary & you should be so proud of how far you’ve come. I can’t wait to read more of your blog. I’ll be following. I’m a poet myself, so I’ll be sure to check out your poetry/prose.
First off, WOW! You are a very courageous woman and a seriously good writer. The recent stories in the media about the Secret Service agents and prostitutes in Columbia should get more people thinking–but it won’t–about the brutal nature of prostitution, especially in 3rd world countries where many prostitutes are in reality sex slaves. Powerful writing from people like you who know the business and all its seaminess are the best people to shine the light on this dark world in our midst.
Best wishes to you Stella.
You’re doing an amazing thing here and I admire your strength and courage. You’re an inspiration and I wish you all the best!
Wow… Very inspiring. So glad to hear you’ve completely changed the route in which you are carrying yourself through life now. Cannot express how courageous and strong I believe you are. Keep writing and getting your story out there. Thank you for Subscribing as well.
Shawn
Your blog looks really interesting and I’m looking forward to reading your story here. I love that you escaped prostitution and went to college; it takes a lot of courage to do that. Thanks so much for sharing your story and bringing the truth into the light.
I have been enjoying your writing and hope you know you are appreciated. I nominated you for this award…
http://graypoet.wordpress.com/2012/04/23/sunshine-award/
you are truely inspirational and im deeply touched by your courage!
Hi Stella! Thanks for visiting my blog, and congrats for your great work and courage. All the best
I think you are very brave. You must be giving hope to many young women out there.
You’re really doing something great here with your blog and your courage is just phenomenal. I hope you continue to do the work you’re doing here, it’s truly inspirational.
Just reading your about page I am astounded by the strength of character you possess. Not only have you survived but you embrace your experiences to aid others, a voice for those who lack the strength or ability to speak out for themselves. Your are a truly remarkable woman and I look forward to reading about your journey
Enjoying your writing and inspired by your activism.
I read some of your work and I’m hooked, I look forward to reading the rest of the entries, it’s great seeing a different perspective.
Many, many blessings to you on your healing journey.-Julie
Wishing you good luck.
Thank you. Your blog has made a huge impact on me. You’re awe inspiring and I cannot express how happy I am that you exist.
Inspirational blog!
I have only recently been made aware of just how deep the problem of human trafficking runs; a representative from the group NASHI spoke at a women’s symposium I attended and that brought this issue to my attention, and now I am very interested to learn more through your blog as well. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
You are an amazingly strong woman, I hope I have even a fraction of your strength during my own fight for my fiance!
Well done Stella.
Keep up the great work.
I have read some of your blog and your story is fascinating. It seems that your writing is a catharsis for you. Also the fact that you are writing from your own experience in a way that really lets people what is going on in that world, is very important. I have often wondered how prostitutes are able to do what they do, the ones who aren’t coerced that is. I find the psychology really interesting, and also like yourself, how you deal with the trauma and mental scarring that comes from such an experience. You are obviously a very determined person who has developed the mental tools to deal with the past. I hope you can inspire other women who are in the same situation as you were.
Hi Stella. So much to read and take in that it is not possible to comment intelligently until I have digested more of what you have experienced.
You’re a couragous young lady. Wishing you all the best. Thank you. One day at a time.
Kudos for your bravery and thank you for sharing your story … Susan
I humbly thank you and want to say that what i read about you is trully an inspiration
The work you are doing is very powerful and I’m very grateful that there are courageous people like you that are confronting the evils of the sex industry.
It’s wonderful to see a survivor of sexual violence ride above their past on their creativity. You are truly inspirational – I hope one day I can start to process things, and express myself through my art.
Thank you for being brave, and for writing. R x
I’m so impressed with all that you’ve accomplished. Without sounding corny I think our paths in life are designed to help us grow and to inspire others. What an amazing job you’ve done with both!
How wonderfully candid. Inspiration not only to to all survivors of the many ails this life can bring, but to anyone reading. In a few lines you’ve shown that any and everything is possible. I ascribe to this in my own life and only hope that even more people are privileged to stumble upon your blog.
super excited to have found your site. your story is badass and inspirational times a million.
You have led such an interesting, unique and rich life that will surely lead to helping so many others who desperately need it. I wish you the best of success in all you do. Cheers!
Your writing is very powerful and I admire your stand. You make me feel proud of what women can achieve

Wow… you are an inspiration to anyone who feels trapped in their lives. You are proof that anyone can change and/or improve their situation, it’s found within ourselves and we are all capable. I wish you the best of luck.
Dear Stella, I was sitting on the couch, ensconced in my New Yorker, when I stopped to check e-mails and noticed you had happened upon my blog. I spent the next hour reading most of your entries, riveted by your writing, your courage and your commitment. I spent a lot of time and effort fighting on behalf of women being raped in the Congo but, sometimes, we are blind to what goes on right in front of our eyes. I am so glad you stopped by so I could find you.
Your writing is beautiful, as is your courageous spirit.
Hey there. I nominated you for the versatile blogger award because I think what you are doing is important. It’s a bit of work, should you choose to do it, but worthwhile.

Hi, When I stopped by it was just to have a look and say thanks but, I have read so much(been on here over an hour!). Abusers grind us down until we just can’t take that next step, until we are so far down that hole that we forget the sky. Well done for having the courage to say “I am worth more and I am better than this.” And even better…. Taking those steps to prove to, not just the world but also yourself that you are!
Hugs your way.x.x.
Stella, I nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. If you want to know more about it, please check it out here http://mytruthsetsmefree.wordpress.com/2012/05/01/playing-small-why-it-took-a-long-time-for-me-to-blog-about-my-blogger-awards/ Thanks, blessings, namaste….….♥NM♥
Hi Stella
We are all having different experiences, and these experiences become our great teachers, and hopefully we learn the lessons they offer. Then we can become the teachers to help others as they seek help while they are going through their experiences.
Keep shining, keep smiling!

i wish you terrific luck with your writing; you have a lot to say!
My hart stopped for a second when I opened your blog, you have a story to tell and I am so glad you put a face on prostitution. In my country buying sex is illigal, and a as a reason for that, you will no longer see girls sellimg them self on the street. And out of sight out of mind, in a way problem solved. We therefor need people like you to remind us. Thanks for sharing …
i’ve read your letter to younger self + looked around a little. i love your sensitivity to language & firm grasp of beauty and joy in the midst of everything – amazing! keep speaking out & turning everything right-side-out.
~kate
Thank you for speaking out and sharing your truth.

http://easyondeyes.wordpress.com/2012/05/04/awards-night/
Thank you, Stella -
I find it nearly indescribably brave to post about your life and times so openly. There are rooms in our personas that ever have the doors shut and bolted; are hidden from all others, and often pushed aside by the self. Here you have opened the door, and afforded insight to those of us who would understand, and to those who never did.
I wish all the best for you.
Hi Stella, I’ve nominated you for the Inspiring Blog Award. If you are interested, here’s the link: http://monyaneba.wordpress.com/2012/05/09/1427/
I am paying it forward and awarding the versatile blogger award to you.

I can’t imagine what you’ve gone through in your life, nor do I want to. You are so brave for doing this, for telling your story. My respect for you can go no higher. I would read your blog, and I have read a few entries, but I suppose I don’t want to see the ugliness of the world, and how people are treated. It’s okay to know, but reading first hand accounts… I just can’t.
Good luck with the rest of your life.
I’m blown away. I’m glad, so happy for finding you – this blog – now I can’t take myself of it… It’s so much to the heart, speaks to it, my core, my humanity… Thank You for sharing. I thought I knew what the word, the feel, for “that’s inspiring” is… Yours – work, story, blog, sharing… – truly is. I can’t say enough…

Thanks Stella. I just visited and am fascinated by your stories and courage. Thank you for sharing. I especially liked An Ex-Hooker’s Letter to her Younger Self. Very powerful. — Rob

Wow Stella. I just read your letter to your younger self..truly heartbreaking. I can’t imagine what it must have been like, but you are a strong and brave woman for speaking out on it. Reminds me of the book Redeeming Love, if you haven’t read it you might like it. But keep doing what you are doing and may God bless you and may He impact many lives through your words!
I write quite a bit about trauma, although a different kind from yours. I think you’re doing amazing work just by sharing your experience.
Just have to say wow. Your voice is strong and awesome and you are so courageous to put so much of yourself out there like this. I haven’t read everything here yet but I will.
Thanks for sharing your voice.
Just like to say that you’re an amazing woman.
Thanks again.
Strong and amazing women rise up in this world to inspire, support and challenge. There is no ‘one’ type as we both know. Your honesty and encouragement will bring forward more voices to be heard. It is hard work – remember to take care of yourself and, again, thank you.
Carrie+
Your courage and strength are an inspiration. I hope to learn more about vulnerability and honesty in writing from you. With hugs and thanks ~ S.
All I can say, without a full cup of coffee in me this morning is WOW! It is a simple word that serves the purpose …. you’ve left me darn near speechless. I do promise to read this blog, your life (or the background) has fueled many discussions not only in long car rides but among friends who feel passionate about the existence and “fundamental” acceptance of human trafficking …
Wow, absolutely incredible!
Wish you all the best and can’t wait to read through your posts.
I salute you and women like you. It takes a lot of courage to do what you are doing. All the best, and here’s hoping for a fulfilling tomorrow, and a less dark world!
Stella,
Your work is powerful. I really appreciate discovering your writing.
Henry

PeACe!
I’m reading your interview on Used Furniture and I’m transfixed, appalled, horrified, inspired by your strength. It’s such a shock and reminds me how naive I am about the world in many ways. I am proud of your courage to stand up and tell your story and I’m so thankful that you are living free now. Best wishes.
I’m thankful to be led here to your blog to experience your courageous writing. Thank you, on behalf of all exploited people, for your bravery in speaking out.
Hey, Stella. THANK YOU so much for this. I admire you so much and will be back for more. Strangely enough, I identified with what you’ve said about recovering from trauma after my own experience with PPD. Wow, Wow, Wow to you. More later…
-maria

Your story is profound and heart-wrenching to the core. God bless as you find renewal and help bring freedom to others.
I came to see your blog and was shocked at the suffering you have endured and amazed at how you lifted yourself above it. Your letter to your younger self is an amazing piece of writing. I’m sure you have helped countless women who have found themselves in a similar situation.
Many years ago, I was the administrative assistant in a halfway home for prostitutes in Saskatoon, Canada. The tragedy was it was in the process of closing due to lack of funds. However, there were still girls to be helped, and I was astounded at the time at man’s inhumanity to (wo)man. It doesn’t surprise me so much anymore, but back then it was an eye opener.
There wasn’t much I could do to help, except listen and direct these woman to provincial institutes that had little room for more women trying to escape their lives. Bless you for your help.
Wow, Stella. I am just now getting to know your blog, and feel floored at where you have been and what you have done with your life. Bravo on your vow not to stay silent.
Stay in touch.
Suzanne

Stella, you are one courageous woman! Reading some of your writings makes one more aware of the problem. It is amazing how writing can help heal wounds. Please keep writing and more people will have the opportunity to do something about this crime on woman and children instead of pretending it isn’t real. Your words are “Real”. Thank you for sharing!
What you do is a Ministry, keep it up.
